チャオプラヤーを想う

今年の３月１１日は、バンコク・チャオプラヤーが目の前にあるホテルで迎えた。様々な情報が錯綜する中で、タイ国の優しさを心底、感じることができた。なぜこんなにも優しいのかと、涙が出る思いがした。いま、そのタイ国が水害に苦しんでいる。

ボクは、英語ができない。で、妻に頼み、お見舞いのメールを打った。スグに返事が来た。以下はその文である。（原文には、写真等が添えられていたが、それは割愛する）

Dear Lee San,

Thank you very much for your e-mail and concerned. We do have a very serious and severe floods right now in the area surrounded Bangkok. I am staying north of Bangkok and currently facing floods around the area as you can see from the attached pictures. My office is located in the Pathumthani province which is north eastern of Bangkok and expected to be flooded in the next few days. I do not know how high the flooding level will be but hopefully it will now higher than the protection we have built.

Kachain’s home is located in the middle of the city and still OK but we do not have any idea of the area where it will be flooded. I hope his family will be lucky enough and not to be flooded.

We are always looking forward to visiting Osaka and staying with you again.−−−−−−−−−−−−−
